Peter Pan Seafoods last week announced a base price for sockeye salmon in Alaska this year that is slightly behind last year.
The company posted a price of $1.00 (€0.95) per pound of Bristol Bay sockeye for the 2022 season.
"The reason we make early base price announcements is to intentionally put the fleet at ease with a starting point so that they know they will receive a fair price for the long hours and hard work they are about to endure participating in the world’s largest sockeye fishery," John Hickman, Peter Pan's vice president of operations, told IntraFish.
