Peru’s Ministry of Production (Produce) and the Peruvian Navy (Marina de Guerra) signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen the supervision and assessment of national and international fishing vessels.
The agreement will formalize the relation between both organizations, and is expected to benefit the country’s coast surveillance.
“We have many common issues, one of our common goals is to strengthen surveillance at sea, to avoid events such a pirate assaults affecting fishermen,” said Bruno Giuffra, head of Produce.
The ministry also plans to invest in the purchase of two additional patrol boats, and in modern technology to improve surveillance systems.
