Peru's first anchovy season in southern waters will start on Aug. 1 with a quota of 435,000 metric tons, following a decision by the production ministry (Produce).

Based on scientific recommendations, the ministry has set the quota 19 percent below the 540,000 metric tons level in the first season of 2019.

The season will end by Dec. 31 or as soon as the full quota is harvested.
