Peru's Ministry of Production (Produce) decided to implement a number of mini-bans across the Peruvian coast starting on May 18 to safeguard the resource.
"Produce will place mini bans for anchovy fishing in the zones after findings the presence of juvenile has exceeded the maximum," Produce said.
The government will place a three-day ban between May 16 and May 18 in the zones between Punta Chao and La Libertad, and in La Barranca, in Lima.
In addition, Produce is placing a four-day ban to run from May 16 to May 19 in the Cerro Azul coast, and in the coast of San Juan de Marcona, in Ica.
