Peru's Ministry of Production (Produce) has authorized a 2.78 million-metric-ton anchovy quota for the second season in north central waters.
Marine scientists spent time at sea gauging stock levels before giving the go-ahead.
The quota is on a par with the second season last year, which was abandoned early in January with only 36 percent of the quota harvested because of the abundance of juvenile fish.
