Peru's Ministry of Production has authorized a 2.047 million metric-ton anchovy quota for the second season of 2021 in north central waters.

The quota is 26 percent down on the same period last year.

Marine scientists spent time at sea gauging stock levels before delivering their assessment to government officials.

As in previous years, the second season, which begin on Nov. 22, will likely spillover into the new year

Last year, the ministry authorized a 2.78 million-metric-ton anchovy quota for the second season in north central waters.
