The International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) decided Friday to set the total US and Canadian total constant exploitation yield (TCEY) at 38.61 million pounds, 3.8 percent more than the 37.21 million pounds set for 2018.

The IPHC reported that last season, 96 percent of the quota, or 26.8 million pounds, was harvested.

In November the IPHC reported another year of declining stocks in most areas of the coast.

The (IPHC) completed its 95th Annual Meeting (AM095) in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on Feb 1. A total of 198 Pacific halibut stakeholders attended the meeting, with over 142 more participating in web broadcasts of the meeting, the IPHC said.
