Environmental NGO Oceana called on the Mediterranean region to tackle its overfishing "crisis" and protect essential fish habitats (EFH) ahead of a political meeting in Morocco.
Members of the United Nation's General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) will review progress made on the political pact Malta MedFish4Ever Declaration signed in 2017 during the meeting.
Oceana launched an online viewer to coincide with the meeting demonstrating measures listed in the pact -- such the agreement to protect nursery and spawning areas in the region by 2018 -- that haven't been implemented yet.
