The case against the Marine Stewardship Council sustainability certification for Omega Protein's Atlantic menhaden purse-seine operations moves forward next week with an adjudication hearing, reports Trade Only Today.

Multiple conservation groups, along with a sport fishing association, filed the objection in March.

The groups that originally filed the current objection (Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Coastal Conservation Association and American Sportfishing Association) pointed out that the certification was given despite current operations not being sustainable, but with the condition that the operation would reach certain milestones over four years.
