New Norwegian Fisheries and Seafood Minister Geir-Inge Sivertsen began work last week, as he replaced former minister Tom Nesvik, who took office on Aug. 13, 2018.

The news was well received by those in the Lenvik municipality, where Sivertsen sat as mayor from 2011 to 2019. From November 2019, Sivertsen held the position of Secretary of State for Trade Minister Torbjorn Roe Isaksen in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

In one Fiskeribladet column, Siversten was met with criticism from Nordre Senja Fiskarlag for assisting in Norway Royal Salmon's request for fish farms in Ytre Oyfjord on Senja.
