SWEDISH equipment manufacturer Seac AB has redesigned its Arenco CIS-N nobbing machine to head, gut and tail cut small fish down to 60/80 fish/kg. with a capacity of 325 fish a minute.

The machine is aimed at the canning industry and can be used to process anchovy, sprat, saury and other small pelagic species.

It is mechanical and does not use any vacuum operation, which means it compares favourably on price to models with vacuum, claims Ulf Groenqvist of Seac AB.

He adds: "Baltic sprats down to 100 fish/kg.
