The total allowable catch (TAC) for Newfoundland and Labrador 2J3KLPs herring fishery was set at 14,842 metric tons for the 2017-2018 fishing season.
The TAC was set 20 percent higher in four areas, status quo in three areas and reduced by 25 percent in one area.
Bonavista Bay/Trinity Bay has the highest share of the TAC with 5,990 metric tons, a 20 percent increase from the year prior.
Fortune Bay saw a 25 percent drop in TAC down to 789 metric tons.
