The EU Council reached an agreement on 2019 catch limits for the main commercial fish stocks in the Atlantic and North Sea.
The agreement is a mixed bag, with some quota increases and some reductions in the stocks assessed. A total of 59 stocks will be managed at Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) levels.
Increases will be applied to plaice in Skagerrat/Kattegat, Southern hake, Western and Southern horse mackerel, cod, sole and plaice in the Irish Sea, and sole and megrim in the Bay of Biscay.
