Maruha Nichiro-backed Austral Fisheries building new, high-tech toothfish vessel

The new vessel, one of the largest and most technologically advanced of its kind, is expected to be delivered near the end of 2025 and is being built in Norway.

The 68.55 meter Austral Odyssey, the company’s second newbuild in five years is expected to operate in the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified Heard Island & McDonald Islands toothfish fishery under some of the world’s harshest fishing conditions.y.
