Norwegian and Russian scientists are recommending an 11 percent cut in the Barents Sea capelin quota for 2023, suggesting a total allowable catch (TAC) of 62,000 metric tons.

This is compared with a quota of 70,000 metric tons in 2022.

The growth in the stocks has been very weak over the past year, said the scientists.
