A new £3m extension to Kallin harbour in the Outer Hebrides has been described as “a tremendous boost for the local fishing community and for the local economy”.
So says Dr John Macleod MBE of Lochmaddy, a retired GP and last year’s winner of the Fishing News Personality of the Year Award for his campaign to have fishermen – and leisure craft users – use personal floatation devices.
He is full of praise for the new 90m long harbour extension, which is 8m wide.
