The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) released its 2016 annual report Tuesday, outlining tuna sustainability achievements and arguing for continuous improvement of global tuna fisheries through collaboration and advocacy.
The report, 'Best Practices, Better Solutions,' covers the achievements of the ISSF’s seven years, from 2009 to 2016, including a focus on fish aggregating device (FAD) management, monitoring, reporting and harvesting rules.
It shows graphics and charts on tuna stocks abundance, and skipper acceptance of best practices such as bycatch mitigation techniques.
In addition, it includes Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) performance indicators in tuna fisheries, and the ISSF advocacy efforts, as well as its achievements over the past seven years.
