The inclusion of fishmeal and fish oil in feed is vital and any desire to replace it entirely is “shortsighted,” said Enrico Bachis, market research director at the Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO), at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum in Bergen, Norway.

“We need to be careful when we talk about replacing marine ingredients. To remove completely is shortsighted, and we shouldn’t remove such a good ingredient," he said.

However, there is room for everyone, and “we should think of using alternatives as well as, not instead of and should all work together,” he said.
