The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) increased its quota recommendation for southern horse mackerel stocks by 24 percent for 2020 in the Atlantic Iberian waters.

The total allowable catch (TAC) limit for next year shouldn't exceed 116,871 metric tons, a more than twofold rise in catch opportunities from 2018, and a 47 percent increase compared to 2018 catches.

ICES recommended catches not exceed 94,017 metric tons in 2019. The advice given now is a surge from last year's advice.
