The International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES) is recommending quota increases for Norwegian coastal cod and Barents Sea saithe in 2023, in new advice published June 15, according to Norway's Institute of Marine Research (IMR).

The coastal cod fisheries will see a boost in quotas next year, while Barents Sea saithe quotas will rise 15 percent.

Following last year's revision for calculating quota recommendations, the advice for coastal cod north of 62 degrees is now divided into two stocks, with a new limit at 67 degrees north.
