The precautionary approach taken by the International Council for Exploration of the Seas (ICES) towards fishing advice is proving so successful that now 50 percent more of the world's fish stocks can be fished without compromising their sustainability.
This is the conclusion of the Danish research group behind the FMSY project, which brings extra ecosystem factors into ICES's calculations.
