Unions representing Icelandic fishermen are still in negotiations with Iceland's major fishing vessels owners as the date for the threatened strike action is looming.

So far, no agreement has been reached, Karen Kjartansdottier, marketing manager at Fisheries Iceland, a group representing the fishing vessel owners and harvesting companies in the talks, told IntraFish.

"But we hope that an agreement can be reached before a strike begins [on Nov. 10 at 11 p.m. local time]," she said.

Unions voted for an indefinite strike in October, after unsuccessful negotiations over collective bargaining agreements for fishermen.

The
