Icelandic giant Samherji purchased a new vessel to catch and store live groundfish onboard, providing flexibility in catching, controlling workload and processing on land.

The new vessel will help Samherji enter new fresh fish markers due to the longer shelf-life and stable supply.

The fish could either be kept live in equipped tanks to process later or to bring ashore, gutted onboard and placed in tanks with refrigerated seawater, or gutted and placed in cold storage.
