Russia’s Pacific wild salmon fishing season officially started on June 1.

Traditionally, fishing companies of the Ust-Kamchatsky, Olyutorsky and Aleut districts are the first to open the salmon season with harvests of sockeye and kings.

In July through August, pink salmon, sockeye and chum harvesting will start in other areas off Kamchatka, followed by chum catching in the Sakhalin, Kuriles and Amur areas beginning in September.
