Greenpeace, International Labor Rights Forum, and other human rights and environmental organizations released a statement criticizing the Marine Stewardship Council's (MSC) revised Chain of Custody certification for failing to adequately address forced and child labor in seafood supply chains.

Following MSC's commitment to update labor requirements in 2014, the council released new requirements to address the situation in March.

All MSC Chain of Custody certificate holders are required to undergo independent labor audits unless they can demonstrate that they are at a lower risk of practicing forced or child labor.
