The second-highest Peruvian anchovy quota in north-central waters in a decade has left the industry and market watchers confused about where the market is headed, analysts told IntraFish.

Last week, Peru's Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized a 2.792 million-metric-ton anchovy quota for the first season of 2022 in north central waters.

The quota is 12 percent higher than for the same period last year.

Full fishing is expected to begin on May 19.
