French processor Freshpack and fishing company Le Garrec have moved to acquire Dieppe, France-based scallop fishing company Favrou, said local media reports.

The deal gives the Freshpack-Le Garrec joint venture access to landings from Favrou's 14 trawlers.

At the height of the scallop fishing season Favrou normally employs around 100 workers.

Le Garrec was founded as a fishing company in 1930 in the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer before going on to become a leading French frozen seafood company, now led by Antoine Le Garrec.
