FRANK Robinson, one of the last of the old Grimsby trawler owners, has died aged 87.

Mr Robinson was the last chairman of the old established firm of Grimsby trawler owners Sir Thomas Robinson and Son (Grimsby) Ltd.

His death comes just three months after the death in a road accident of his younger son Mark.

The Robinson family was connected with fishing for centuries. Frank Robinson's grandfather, Sir Thomas Robinson, came from a long line of Cleethorpes fishermen. He was a willing convert from smack fishing to steam trawling and was one of the pioneers who established Grimsby as one of the world's premier fishing ports.
