On Feb. 28, the UK was the first nation to pass a law banning vessels with Russian connections from entering British ports. The day after, Norway and the EU announced they were considering a similar move.

"If Norway closes its ports to Russian fishing vessels there may be a breach of current agreements between Norway and Russia," Norebo spokesperson Sergei Sennikov told IntraFish sister publication Fiskeribladet.

Norebo is Russia's largest fishing company with its headquarters in Murmansk.

“Such a move could lead to Russia closing its ports to Norwegian vessels," Sennikov said.
