The European Union (EU) and Canada ratified a partnership agreement to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fisheries, marine pollution and climate change.
Last year, the EU entered a similar ocean partnership with China. The EU and Canada have a longstanding relationship regarding ocean affairs.
The agreement also helps facilitate implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
