EUROPEAN fishing vessel operators are “satisfied” with an expected €600 million package of financial measures adopted in mid-July by the European Fisheries Council to tackle the fuel price crisis.

However, the final details of how this aid can and should be spent still have to be worked out by ministers and fisheries commission officials.

Political agreement was reached by the Council on the night of July 15 to tackle the crisis and this has been welcomed by the presidents of Europêche and of the fisheries section of COGECA.
