Denmark's Port of Hanstholm is on track to complete a €55 million ($60 million) three-year expansion plan this summer, which will make it one of Europe's largest consumer fishing ports.

The expansion includes a new basin, entry point to northern Denmark, added quay area and water depth. It will also create more than 450 new jobs.

The plan also involves adding 30,000 square meters in the form of a multi-terminal for freight activities.

"We hope to attract more businesses that can see the potential in establishing activities in what we consider the northwest maritime gateway to the entire European and Scandinavian market," said Port of Hanstholm CEO Niels Clemensen.
