The Dungeness crab season off Oregon, Washington and California will remain closed until at least Jan. 15 of 2023, fishery managers announced Friday.

The fishery traditionally opens on Dec. 1, but rarely over the past decade has it opened on time.

On Nov. 18, regulators announced they were delaying the start of the 2022/2023 coastwide Dungeness season until Dec. 15. Again in December, they said the season would be delayed until Dec. 31, with a second round of pre-season testing showing crabs were too low in meat yield in some areas.
