THE DEATH of Don Lister in Grimsby at the end of October brought another chapter in the history of the 'cod wars' to an end. Aged 74 the former skipper and Consolidated Fisheries trawler manager died battling against long illness.
During the 1970s the late Don Lister advised the British Government on policy during the 'cod wars' defending Grimsby's distant waters interests and visited Iceland as part of an official delegation.
He had been one of the most successful British skippers in its waters.
