Wanchese Fish Company, a division of Cooke Seafood, is launching its newest shrimp trawler, Destiny, for operations in southern Argentina during the 2022 season.

At a cost of CAD15 million ($12 million/€10.6 million), the vessel will be one of the most modern fishing vessels in the Argentine shrimp industry, according to the company.

Built by the Astilleros Armon shipyard in Spain, the Destiny is 42.93 meters long and 11.10 meters wide.

The trawler will fish for product sold to Wanchese customers as frozen-at-sea, whole shrimp, shell-on tails or peeled and deveined and ready to be cooked.

In 2015, the Cooke family created Cooke Seafood USA Inc and acquired the Wanchese Fish Company.

Since that time, the company has made several global acquisitions to expand its footprint in the shrimp category.

In 2019, Cooke acquired Farallon Aquaculture de Nicaragua S.A., a vertically integrated producer of farmed shrimp, and later integrated Farallond Nicaragua into its Seajoy operations.
