A new Chinese squid fishery improvement project (FIP) has been posted publicly for the first time this week.

The FIP is listed on the Fishery Progress website as the Shantou-Taiwan Chinese common squid FIP, focusing on jigging and single trawl gears.

The squid FIP will focus in part on improving harvest monitoring and training for fishermen and is being facilitated by the China Blue Sustainability Institute.

“This is one of the first FIPs launched in mainland China and has been endorsed by local fishery authorities and industry associations,” said Han Han, founder and executive director of the China Blue Sustainability Institute.
