CAP SAINTE MARIE, built along conventional tuna freezer lines, is to be operated in the Indian Ocean by GIE France Thon, a subsidiary of part-owner Armament CMB.
The two other French companies having shares in Cap Sainte Marie are Armament Kuhn-Ballery in Brest and trawler operator Armament Le Garrec of Boulogne.
"This vessel is the same as Avel Vad," Pierre Dufour of CMB tells FNI.
"There are a few differences, but these are very slight."
He went on to say that Avel Vad under Captain Michel Marrec was France's top catching tuna seiner last year, landing 5918 tonnes.
