Skipper Peter Tait and his crew of the new Fraserburgh 65m pelagic trawler Challenge (FR 226) expect to start fishing North Sea herring early next month on grounds north of Fair Isle, probably putting landings into the Shetland Catch pelagic processing factory at Lerwick, Shetland.
Spanish builder Astilleros Zamakona of Bilbao delivered Challenge in May during the seasonal lull between pelagic fisheries, giving the crew time to rig the new ship and carry out fishing trials off Fraserburgh without any pressure.
