Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced a 20 percent cut in Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for mackerel this year, reports CBC news.

The quota will drop from 10,000 metric tons to 8,000 because stocks are in the so-called "critical zone," meaning they require more conservative management measures.

Last week, Canada's Northern Shrimp Advisory Committee announced a 16.3 percent cut in the total allowable catch (TAC) of borealis shrimp in fishing areas four to six for the fishing year 2019/2020.
