Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) this week announced its coldwater shrimp quota for the fishing year 2017/2018.

The total allowable catch (TAC) for the shrimp fishing area four (SFA 4) is increasing by 745 metric tons from 14,971 metric tons to 15,725 metric tons. The Montagui bycatch limit will remain at the level of 4,033 metric tons.

For the shrimp fishing area five (SFA 5) the quota will be cut by around 14.1 percent to 22,000 metric tons to achieve a 20 percent exploitation rate, the DFO said.
