Bumble Bee Foods, FCF and Ocean Outcomes are teaming to launch a new longline tuna fishery improvement program (FIP) in the Indian Ocean, a major source of tuna for Bumble Bee products.
The vessels taking part in the program catch 6,000 metric tons of albacore tuna annually in the Indian Ocean.
The three companies will work closely on improving fishery data collection, reporting mechanisms, monitoring and management strategies to get the fishery up to a sustainable standard within the next five years.
