The Norwegian pelagic sales organization, Norges Sildesalgslag, is reporting blue whiting catches of 48,320 metric tons for last week – despite it starting off with bad weather.

The quantity is distributed with 32,440 metric tons from fisheries in the EU zone, while the rest -- 15,850 metric tons -- is fished from international waters.

The catches are delivered in Ireland, Iceland, Denmark and Norway.

According to Fredrik Andersen, general manager of Prima Protein in Norway, the average price for blue whiting has been rising slightly lately, creeping up from NOK 2.30
