Sockeye, chum and pink salmon species from another of Russia's West Kamchatka salmon fisheries are seeking certification from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

The assessment process, sponsored by JSC Ozernovsky Fish Canning Plant 55, has just begun and the final decision is expected to be made in June 2020.

Other groups supporting the certification are RK Zapadny, Rybkholkam and Poseidon.

Total volume harvested by western Kamchatka fisheries is roughly 90,000 metric tons per year, with pink salmon averaging about 60 percent of the even-year harvest. Sockeye follows at around 30 percent.
