Russia’s Pollock Catcher Association (PCA) has received Marine Stewardship Certification (MSC) for the Russian pollock fishery in the North-Kuril zone and Petropavlovsk-Commander subzone, adding another 186,100 metric tons of certified whitefish to global markets.

On Sept. 3, the MSC published the final certification decision recognizing the Russian East Kamchatka trawl pollock fishery in the North Kuril zone and the Petropavlovsk-Commander subarea as sustainable and well-managed.

This comes after nine months of independent assessment of the pollock fishery in these areas and enhances the possibilities for the output of value-added products, PCA said.
