Krill harvester and processor Aker Biomarine's new NOK 1 billion (€106 million/$121 million) vessel, the first ever constructed specifically for krill harvesting, will be ready to fish in the South Sea by 2019, project manager Eldar Vindvik told IntraFish Media's TekFisk.

"Everything is new," Vindvik said. From ship design, interior design, optimized energy use, heat recovery, propulsion, LED lighting, production handling and more, the new vessel is a leap forward.

The 130-meter vessel is being built by Norway's VARD group.
