Waitrose supplier Sealord Caistor reported a rise in its 2016 earnings, despite continuous "challenging and competitive environment in the UK retail sector."

The group, which recently got snapped up by a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui), and was consequently renamed Caistor Seafoods, reported a profit of £1.1 million (€1.3 million/$1.4 million) in the year ended Sept. 28, 2016, up from £727,749 (€856,779/$939,982) in the previous financial year.
