UK-based whitefish processor Thistle Seafoods reported a £3.2 million (€3.6 million/$4 million) profit in 2018,bouncing back from a £3.4 million (€3.8 million/$4.2 million) loss in 2017 when the company was beset by a number of problems.

During 2018, management kept a tight reign on working capital, improving cash flow and renegotiating prices with Thistle's main customers.

Despite this, sales were flat at £89.5 million (€101.3 million/$111.7 million).

A year earlier figures were affected by higher raw material costs, linked to Brexit, while an internal investigation found that trading results and net assets had been overstated due to stock values being inflated and creditor and overdraft balances being understated, leading the company's auditors to resign in February 2018.
