Ruskim Seafoods -- a major player in the United Kingdom's Asian foodservice sector, particularly in shrimp -- reported solid 2016 earnings as it continued to broaden its product range and target markets.

Profit for the year ended June 26 increased 1.1 percent from £548,407 (€638,307/$684,911) to £554,558 (€645,467/$692,593) year-on-year, which included a write-off of an investment.

Ruskim's profit before tax remained fairly stable year-on-year, only slightly growing from £734,599 (€855,022/$917,448) in 2015 to £736,241 (€856,933/$919,499) in the last financial year.

Turnover jumped nearly 3 percent year-on-year, from £93.6
