Fishing communities across the United Kingdom will benefit from better infrastructure, strengthened supply chains, new jobs and an investment in skills due to a £75 million (€89.2 million/$100.7 million) boost for the sector, the UK Government announced on Dec. 27.

The investment will strengthen the sector’s ability to land more fish in the UK and take them to market faster, the government said in a press release.

A £65 million (€77.3 million/$87.3 million) infrastructure scheme will be made available for projects such as modernizing ports and harbors alongside increasing capacity and efficiency at processing and aquaculture facilities.
