Européenne de la Mer, a subsidiary of Thai Union Group, announced Wednesday the closure of the UK-based salmon smoker, The Edinburgh Salmon Company Ltd (ESCo).
The company said no feasible alternative solution to closure was found during a collective consultation which was announced on Sept. 27.
As a result, the company will cease production at the end of the year.
"ESCo remains ready, and will maintain the necessary employees, to fulfill all current contracted obligations which run until the end of the year, when we will cease production," said the company.
